Salman Saeed Khan

Dr Salman Khan is a post-doctoral Associate Research Fellow at the Department of Archaeology, University of Exeter, UK. He has approximately seven years of research experience in Remote Sensing. Some of the application areas where his research outputs have contributed, and are expected to have a significant impact, are land mapping, monitoring of glaciers and polar regions, change detection, land mine detection, oil spill detection and characterisation, ship detection, deforestation, forest fire monitoring, and the detection of Amazonian archaeology. He is also the recipient, as the first author, of the IEEE Geoscience and Remote Sensing Society (GRSS) best journal paper award (2013) for the Journal of Selected Topics in Applied Earth Observation and Remote Sensing (J-STARS).

Dr Khan was born in 1982 in Lahore, Pakistan. He received a BSc degree in Computer Sciences from the National University of Computer and Emerging Sciences, Pakistan, in 2004. In 2009 he received a Masters degree in Electrical Engineering as a Fulbright scholar at the University of Central Florida, Orlando, USA. His PhD was in Electronics Engineering at the Surrey Space Centre, University of Surrey, UK.
